What Is A Temple Centurion?

In the Old Testament, the TEMPLE was where God’s presence dwelled. In the New Testament, a CENTURION was a Roman soldier who led 100 men, one who would protect, proclaim and promote the vision of the Roman Empire.  At Transformation Church, we have combined the spirit of the Old Testament with the passion of the New Testament by developing givers we call TEMPLE CENTURIONS. A Temple Centurion is a person who will protect God’s presence, proclaim His hope and promote the mission and dream that God has for Transformation Church through their generosity, commitment and obedience by faithfully and consistently tithing.  Temple Centurions understand that in order to bring about real change in the world, it requires tithing and sacrificial giving. They stand firm on the promises of God and believe that their financial support can be multiplied by Him to accomplish great things in the world.

Why Temple Centurions?

The vision is bigger than any one of us.  It is a plan to bring the love of Christ to a hurting world, to connect individuals with one another, and to serve our communities just as Jesus served.  Temple Centurions are the ones who BELIEVE, LEAD and COMMIT through prayer, service and financial support in order to keep the Dream of Jesus alive, not just for today, but for generations to come.

Who are Temple Centurions?

If you are willing to lead in your commitment to the Word of God, protect and defend God’s church and promote His cause through bold selfless prayer, tithing, and sacrificial giving, then we ask you to be a part of this movement of God.  We urge you to give your life something that will be sure to impact generations to come:  BECOME A TEMPLE CENTURION.

What is tithing?

The word “tithe” is derived from the Hebrew word ma’aser and it literally means a tenth. Ten percent of everything belongs to the Lord. In Malachi 3:10-11, God says, “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse that there may be food in my house.” The ‘storehouse’ is the Old Testament picture of the New Testament church. So as New Testament believers, we worship the Lord with the tithe; or the ten percent of our gross income.

What is the difference between a tithe and an offering?

The tithe is 10% of your income. God says that He has given us all that we own and that the first 10% is dedicated to Him, and we are to be faithful in “bringing the tithe.” Offerings are any generous giving that you do over and above your tithe. And while your tithe is designated for the local church, an offering is for you to be generous wherever you see a need.

Many followers of Christ confuse giving regularly with tithing, and while giving regularly is highly commendable, and it is a big step in and of itself, tithing is taking a full 10% of your paycheck, and giving it to the local church in order to be an important part of building God’s Kingdom.
